Ask if they take AAA.

There are no discounts through travel agencies. You get extra perks, but no discounts.
Sorry, no AAA discounts. Once again, you get perks, but no discounts.
Annual passholders get a 10% discount on the GC, and there are some really good rates during the slower months. We’ve stayed there a few times in the past at rates less than half the usual rack rate.
And they’re always full, so I don’t see any discounts forthcoming.

I can’t believe no one said this. Annual Passholders are FREQUENTLY (like every 2-3 months) offered discounted rates for all the Disneyland Resort hotels, including the Grand Californian. Granted, you might still be looking at $400 a night, but it could be less than what is offered to the general public during that time period.
You can buy Annual Passes online, and once you have your pass number you can put it into the Disneyland website and see the current offers. Only one person in your party has to have the pass, and that would be the person booking the room. Another benefit of having the pass is that you get good discounts in the park for merchandise and/or dining (depending on which one you get.) Even if this is your ONLY trip to DLR ever saving hundreds of dollars on your hotel reservation and saving at least a hundred on food/merch in the park is well worth buying the pass.
